This isn’t really that contemporary. Many in the past have viewed the Song of Songs as a metaphor of God’s love for Israel or Christ’s love for the church. (For clarity, I think the Song is *not* such a metaphor).

That still doesn’t justify this pastor’s bad judgement. I think this is just part of a 30 year trend to be super-edgy in the pulpit.
