Thank you for this "primer" into the Romani/Roma culture. I have visited a Roma school in Transylvania about a year ago and know of people working with the Roma in Slovenia and Bulgaria.
I think we have a challenge (that you point out): somehow we must learn how to approach a people group not with an air of superiority ("I know what's best for you") but with an attitude of partnership.
Before we can do much help, it would be useful if we listened.
