I've often said, "If God is always agreeing with you, perhaps it isn't God you're hearing but someone else..."

It just seems to me God rarely tells us to do things we really want to do or that already conforms to our opinions. If the voice of God you hear sounds like an echo of your own thoughts, it's probably not God...
