I think there is another point altogether (actually two):

  1. The point is the power of the seed/word/message of God (but yes, will we accept it — are our hearts good soil — open to receive?)
  2. We don’t control the soil (hearts) of others, nor should we attempt to judge soil (otherwise we get the credit if we’re right — but generally, we aren’t that smart to figure out the hearts of others). We just scatter seed and let seed and soil interact to produce a crop.

My two-cents worth anyway.
