I knew a Greek professor in the 1980s who complained about church leaders who would exclaim, “You should have had that [doctrine, belief, etc] nailed down years ago!”

His reply, “Pull out every one of those nails and only drive in what solid exegesis and common sense demands!”

Honestly, there is no problem with doubt. I would not trust my spiritual well-being with any pastor who has not gone through the dark night or struggled deeply with her or his own doubts.
