I have often viewed vers libre as useful in moderation.

Usually it serves as an exception that must be made — you have to break out of conventional forms because they are too constricting at the particular moment. That “exception” to form draws attention — it says, “Hey! Pay attention! I can’t say this any other way!”

That’s my perspective, anyway.
