Ah, well. We won’t see eye-to-eye on this. I just don’t feel the need to make it “fit” literally. It really doesn’t matter. If I discover it was literally true it won’t bother me. If I am correct that it is not literal, it obviously doesn’t bother me.

I think we spend far too much time trying to reconcile these things and thinking that somehow the reconciliation is important. The literalness or non-literalness of this text won’t promote or prevent belief in the accuracy of the text.
