Actually, I don’t believe Jesus is speaking of a post-mortem Hell. He was speaking of the chosen consequences of injustice. Much of the Gehenna passages are referencing the destruction of Jerusalem, not God’s eternal destruction of individuals.

We have been looking at these texts through the lenses of Medieval literalism rather than through 2nd Temple Judaism.
